For when the GPS signal is either spoofed or jammed.
For years GPS signal has been primarily used for navigating the globe. But this signal can get intercepted or jammed. Other navigational tools can get real expensive. We at Galileo Automation can find the position of your ship by using a camera, a sensor, our own software and the stars above.
GPS is used all around the world for navigating. However, in some areas this signal gets either jammed or the signal gets spoofed. For many ships this can be dangerous. This is why most ships have to resor to different determination of position. Different determination methods could be used like an IMU ( Inertial Measurement Unit). This method is not accurate the longer you are underway, so we offer a better solution.
By using a camera with a roll and pitch sensor, we can take a photo of the nightsky and with some software calculate the celestial coordinates. With the time of the photo and knowing the angle from which the photo was taken, we can determine our position. Our goal is to be within 1 nautical mile.
“We want to ensure our customer never gets lost, no matter what”
Before leaving the harbour, the customer can calibrate the program, when you know your position. The customer will then determine the interval of when the position will be calculated. After that, the program will run and display the position onscreen.
“It’s amazing to use the old ways of nautical navigation but fully automated this time!”
